Barnett's has been serving customers from our delightful listed shop-front on the High Street in Wadhurst since 1982.
Barnett's has become something of a fixture for readers of all ages with a loyal local customer base and a very welcome diaspora who continue to look to us to supply them (or their family locally) with books!
We display a broad range of modern fiction, with the latest paperbacks and hardbacks together with a number of carefully selected novels from less well-known authors and independent publishers.
Of course, we also have a good range of all the classics, in case there is something you have always meant to get round to...

We also love our Crime & Thrillers - with a distinctly global outlook, for some reason - and our Science Fiction reflects the personal recommendations of our resident expert.
Our wonderful children's section is a pride and joy and reflects our love of helping getting young people reading books for pleasure.
We have everything from gifts for baby, to a dazzling waterfall of picture books to read together, to our welcoming "wall of fiction", which allows independent readers to find their own way to the book they need!
And, of course, we have all the wonderful books that we can remember reading to our own children - we hope customers will enjoy them as much as we did.
Besides great novels, our other passion is for History - our history section covers a breadth of periods and geographical range. We also have a unique range of local history books, published by the Wadhurst History Society.
Barnett's has always been known for the range of its stock in a small shop - with dedicated shelf space for Biography, Nature, Popular Science, Poetry, Gardening, Cookery, Music writing, Sport writing, and Art and other interesting reads
And, last but not least, we have wonderful greetings cards and notelets from independent artists as well as the best of our nation's museums, galleries and great libraries, together with wrapping paper and stationery.
